Businessman granted bail in CWG scam case

New Delhi, Mar 15: Businessman Binu Nanu, held for allegedly paying kickbacks to various CWG Organising Committee officials to secure several lucrative contracts for providing logistic support to last year's mega sporting event, was today granted bail by the Delhi High Court.

Justice Ajit Bharihoke granted him bail on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 with two sureties of the same amount.

Nanu, director of M/s Mero Form Indian Pvt Ltd (France) and M/s GL events Pvt Ltd will join investigation as and when required and will not try to either tamper with evidence or influence witnesses in the case, the judge directed.

The judge also ordered Nanu to surrender his passport with the trial court.

The court granted him bail accepting his counsel Pramod Kumar Dubey's arguments that the investigation was almost over and the CBI no longer needed his client for custodial interrogation.

The CBI had arrested Nanu on January 17. His arrest was followed by the arrests of former Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi's aide Shekhar Deorukhkar and Director General V K Verma.
