Make Ugadi Complete With Tasty Raw Mango Halwa

Summer is the season of mangoes and as the new year (ugadi) is up (New year for those who follow the Hindu lunar calendar) it is time to make some tasty summer mango recipes like sweets. Today we present you with a tasty raw mango halwa recipe. Raw mangoes are high in vitamins and antioxidant. Raw Mango Halwa Recipe For Ugadi

Ingredients:

1. 1 raw mango - (peeled, grated)

2. 1 cup semolina (rava) - 3/4 cup

3. Sugar - 3/4 cup

4. Ghee - 1/2 cup

5. Cashewnuts (fried in ghee)

6. Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon

Raw Mango Halwa Preparation:

1. Heat sugar in a pan with little water. Once the syrup is ready add grated raw mango. Stir until the mixture is reduced to half. Add ground rava and sugar, cardamom powder, ghee and stir until thick.

2. Pour the mixture on the greased plate and keep it aside to cool. Tasty raw mango halwa (summer mango recipe) is ready to serve.

Random Cooking Tip: The next time your food gets too salty do not worry as it can be reduced by adding teaspoon of lemon into it.

Authentic Raw Mango Gojju For Ugadi

Since Ugadi is a festival of eating Bevu, Bella (neem and Jaggery) bitterness and sweetness signifying sorrow and happiness in life as part of a well balanced living. Today we give you a tasty ugadi recipe called Raw Mango Gojju which is prepared using both neem and jaggery. Take a look at how to go about with the tasty raw mango recipe.

Raw Mango Gojju Recipe – Ugadi recipe

Ingredients:

1. 1 cup green mango (peeled and grated)

2. 2 neem flowers (2 bits)

3. 3 tsps jaggery

4. 1 cup water

5. ½ tsp mustard seeds

6. 1/4 gram dal

7. ¼ tsp urad dal

8. 2 green chillies

9. Pinch of asafoetida

10 Salt as per taste

Method:

1. Boil raw mango in a pan and add salt, keep stiring until change in color.

2. Add jaggery, neem, green chillies and bring it to boil.

3. Season gojju with fried mustard, gram seeds, urad dal and asafoetida. Spicy hot Gojju is ready to serve.

Enjoy the tasty raw mango recipe on the ugadi day with hot rice and ghee.
