Oprah Winfrey had announced the news as early as in 2009 that her 25th season (2010-11) would be her last. The popular television host, who recently launched her own TV network, had also revealed how the Harpo production team with its president Sheri Salata were planning the last few episodes of her show.
“I’m allowing for Sheri and the team to plan two days of full surprises,” Oprah Winfrey said.
“I’ve given up control for the last two days. It’s a lot to relinquish. I had to pray on that … and get a guarantee from Sheri there would be no strippers or dancing people coming out of shells.”
Meanwhile, Oprah Winfrey's Australian tour wasn't a smooth one, apart from the heat and flies ar Uluru, the talk show queen was not very sure about pronouncing the Prime Minister Julia Gillard's name. Her experience was revealed on an episode of Winfrey's new documentary-style show, Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes.
For easy pronunciation, Winfrey decided to break the the surname Gillard into two words - "gill" and "lard".
"Think of 'lard'. Think of 'lard'. Gill-Lard," Winfrey, before the meet, rehearsed.
"Gills and the fish and lard?
"OK, good."
