Today (Monday, Mar 21) Trinamool and Congress experienced a tough time as sources informed that the alliance between Trinamool and Congress might have broken over the seat-sharing spat. However, finally, Trinamool allotted 65 seats to Congress. Sonia's party also agreed on the latest deal.
Congress working committee member-in-chief in Bengal Shakeel Ahmed stated that Trinamool will contest for 229 seats while 65 seats have been allotted to Congress. West Bengal assembly polls starting from Apr 18 will be held in six phases.
The crucial decision has been taken by the two parties after the meeting between Mamata Banerjee and finance minister Pranab Mukherjee.
Trinamool, previously announced their candidates list where the party had allotted only 64 seats to Congress. Disappointed Congress then demanded for 98 seats.
Answering to Congress' query, Mamata had claimed, "We will be happy if Congress fields its candidates in 64 seats by Monday (Mar 21). Else, we will put our own candidates there including those from the minority community."
